Numbers 14:8
If the LORD is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us--a land which flows with milk and honey

Reflection: Do you have goals in your life that seems so hard to accomplish?
After the Israelite were freed from the slavery of Egypt. God promised to give them the land flowing with milk and honey. It should only take 11 days of journey for the Israelites. But it took them 40 years going around the wilderness before entering the promised land. After reading the verses in Numbers, I came up with revelations from God.
1. God is teaching us something
Numbers 11:4-6
The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”

The promise land is living in the full blessings of God. A life flowing with milk and honey. This includes our family, finances, spiritual children with God and all aspects in our life that affect us as a person. The Egyptian slavery symbolizes us living in sin. We are once slave of sin, never knowing how to get our lives away from worldly things because we ourselves are helpless. Somebody should rescue us, somebody that is stronger than us. Since our strength is not enough, its only Jesus that could free us from sin.
Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Going back to the Israelites, after being freed from Egpyt, they began the journey to the promise land. But along the way they encountered hardships. Then they became hard headed people and suddenly they want to go back to Egypt.
Just like us in our journey, we have been freed from sin. And God wants us to change our ways from the inside out to experience Him to the fullest. It may be letting go of something that's holding you back, striving to get away from temptation or disobedience. God doesn't assure that the way is easy but He assures that He is with us in every trials we encounter. But being human, we are distracted by the trials along the way, forgetting our goals. We become stubborn. And suddenly we forget about God's promises to us. Sometimes we stop trying and decides to go back to our "Egypt".
"Nothings worth it comes easy"
Reflection: What is that part of your life that God wants you to let go?
2. God wants our 100% trust in Him
Numbers 14:4
And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”
And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”
Even if the Lord provides day and night for the Israelites, they still do not trust God. The Lord sends meat(quail) and manna everyday. By the day, they are covered with clouds to be protected from heat. And by night, the Lord provides fire to keep them warm. Their clothes and slipper also grows with them. Even of all these provisions, they still fail to trust in God. They also want to appoint their own leader.
Most of us tasted the provision of God. But sometimes we forget. And we start complaining and scaring ourselves that God has forsaken us. We then turned to our own ways. We divert ourselves from God's plan. This may cause us to be lost and keep roaming around circles. We became leader of our own forgetting we ourselves do not know what lies ahead outside the guidance of the Lord.
Partial obedience is still disobedience
Reflection: Before you do every decision, do you ask God for wisdom? Or you just do it in your own way?
Today, maybe you are tired of running around in circles. Always in your wilderness. I do not know what hinders you from reaching the promised land. It's only you and God knows what areas to improve and habits you have to leave. Ask God for forgiveness and right heart as you journey to your promise land.
I pray to whoever is reading this be touched by the holy spirit and have his/her revelation from God. God bless this day!
